Hey,
How will the Utah game make or break this Michigan football season. Is this game that big of deal or are people making a bigger deal of this game than if it was not a new coach, new system, etc...
Is the Michigan schedule a good thing or not? With Utah a very good team with a lot of players back and then the first Big Ten game with Wisconsin right after facing Notre Dame one of our bitter rivals?

Thanks for the question. Utah is important just like all first games because getting off to positive start is always important. Being a new staff with new schemes and packages only makes challenge slightly different.
It in no way makes first game any more or less important in our opinion. Getting young inexperienced players off to positive start gives them a confidence boost that can carry you throughout the season.
Winning first game can also give staff credibility with team. For eight months, the new staff has been selling these kids how important all the hard work is. If you win, you can get into that locker room and say see it all paid off.
Winning early games also creates a buzz that is huge boost to recruiting and helps teams develop that swagger. As for the schedule, it is good schedule. Yes, Michigan plays Ohio State and Notre Dame on the road, but gets Wisconsin, and Michigan State at home. Every year Michigan will have two or three tough road games so this year is no big deal in our opinion.
