'Soft' label tough for U-M team to swallow
But Wolverines coaches, players agree that overall toughness is not up to standard.

ANN ARBOR -- Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez rarely talks around a subject. And rarely is he vague in his intent.
Two days after the Wolverines lost 45-20 to the Illini in Michigan Stadium, he used a word to describe his team's play that no football player ever wants to hear.
"We made a lot of mistakes in key times, key areas, big mistakes on lots of big plays on both sides of the ball and thought we played a little soft," Rodriguez said Monday during his weekly news conference. "That was the most disappointing part about it we've got to get tougher."
Soft. They played a little "soft."
No word stings more.
