Mailbag Question: Why does everybody keep saying that the special teams are getting better?
Why does everybody keep saying that the special teams are getting better? How can they be getting better when Purdue got to HUGE plays off special teams with the long fake punt that got them close to their goal line and scored in a few plays along with Odoms punt drop that cost Michigan another score?
I realize that we scored on a punt return and the kick offs were a little better, but how can you ... not really you guys ... but so many people say they are improving with these mistakes keep happening.
In addition, was it that Purdue was so bad and maybe we were not that day?
Thanks for the blog guys you do a great job!

Thanks for the question and comment. We fans are always impressed by big plays.
When one or two happens, they overshadow all the deficiencies. We believe Michigan had two bright spots in special teams play, Odoms returns, and Mesko’s punting. We believe, Michigan still has a ton of work to do on special teams play.
