Coaches Corner: What we / Michigan is up against in Ohio

Coach Tressell visited Sylvania Southview today to be part of a Pep assembly to honor Southview's State Championship.

Coach Tressell makes himself or another staff member available for such pep assemblies to all teams that win Ohio State Championships.

He also sends a handwritten letter to all Ohio teams that either win their league, or qualify for playoffs. This is what I am talking about with making the staff and self-available.

It's all about being visible and going that extra mile. Southview has no seniors Ohio State is recruiting, so this is completely for public relations purposes. This is the type of public relations that pays huge dividends to coaches and recruits alike.

Ohio State has the entire community out talking, creating a buzz about their program and how nice it was of them to show up. This is what Coach Rod and staff need to accomplish.

Public relations and recruiting is more than just going places that have kids you are after. It is about making contacts and being out in the public. Ohio State under Tressell is not going to make it easy for Michigan like the old regime did.

Michigan, Coach Rod, we are going to have to kick, scratch, and claw to catch them. Get after it Coach Rod! Some of our best players in the history of Michigan football came from Ohio and we have always had a presence in Ohio that is one of the many reasons why Ohio State fans hate Michigan so much.
