Maybe the verb used for the ESPN-SEC story isn't the best choice. You might not mean anything by it yourself, but you can't control how readers will take it. For some, your use of the word makes certain ideas seem more acceptable, and those ideas get a lot of people hurt. Again, you might not mean it, but it would be great if you could change it.
