The Defense?

Do you blame all the problems on the defense?

Why does the defense seems to be always moving all the time before the snap and it seems like we got caught several times where the ball was snapped before we were set.

How and why are we changing so much and also what are they trying to do by switching so much.

The movement, or switching, is part of the defensive scheme. It is Coach Robinson's way of attempting to confuse the offense.

The movement is part of Coach Robinson's zone blitz philosophy, trying to keep the offense off balance and creating doubt and assignment difficulties concerning who will be rushing the passer or dropping into coverage.

We share Coach Rod's philosophy that football is the one true team game and that all phases of the game affect the others. The offense turning the ball over numerous times put the defense in a hole and created problems for the defense.

In fact the defense held Indiana twice to field goals after the Michigan offense turned the ball over along with the fact that Indiana attempted five field goals and was successful on four of those. Without the defense holding IU to field goals, this game could have been ugly in favor of Indiana. The game was ugly, but in a good way since Michigan won.
