Mailbag question: Three star recruits
Are you alarmed at all by Coach Rod's inability to recruit mostly three-star recruits consistently? Does this mean Michigan cannot compete with OSU in the long run?

Thanks for the question.
We are not star guys.
The rankings of services are in our opinion just for fun and discussion on various message boards and also help fans debate on whether or not their team is winning in the recruiting game.
Our key indicator is who else is recruiting and offering players.
And that is our primary concern, we are not challenging Ohio State for Ohio 's best, we are not in on the same talent as Florida in the sunshine state, and with some of the other talent in various states, etc.
We hope that soon Michigan is beating the elite schools for elite players and not only on the recruiting trail, but also on the football field as well. You can only tell recruits for so long that the program is young or that they could be the one to turn the program around and get it back to being " Michigan.” The 2-6 and 1-7 in the Big Ten cannot continue if Michigan wishes to compete with the elites on the recruiting trail.

I do not have any opinion on who RR recruits, but I believe the odds of beating OSU are diminished if they recruit 4-5 star players, and Michigan coaches are content with recruiting 3 star or less players. Michigan should be going al out to recruit the best players in the nation....period.
