Michigan Coaches Clinic: Michigan Practices

Michigan Practice:

If you ever attended practice under Old Michigan regime, you would not believe this is same team. The Coach Rod version did more work in first forty-five minutes of practice then Old Michigan did in five or six practices. The pace and organization of practice is unreal. There is no more standing around and watching. Everyone is working including the red-shirts, injured players on running, riding bike, or doing other conditioning.

The difference in the condition of this team is crazy. Only injured players have large guts hanging over. Players look fit, trim, but still stronger. In addition, the amount of full contact, full speed drills is astounding. Even the quarterbacks are being hit in some drills. No more endless walk through and half speed stuff. Players who do not perform full speed are benched and chewed out, but what was most amazing was the spirit and attitude. Guys helping each other, taking pride in their side of ball winning scrimmage, and coaches not letting any one get away with less than their best. Honestly, we walked away very impressed.

  1. How about an injury report ? I have heard Threet has a upper leg injury and Junior Hemmingway had to have pins put in his ankle? and Carlos and Minor are out for spring? and just who and how many players have the flu? Can you update us on all injuries? perhaps after the spring game is over would be best.

  2. You guys are doing a fantastic job with this blog. I love that it's original content and not just re-hashing what has been reported elsewhere.

I'm curious to know more about the guys behind this blog (eg. where does the coach do his coaching?), but I understand the benefits of being a little anonymous as well. In any regard, keep up the great work guys!

  3. Wade,

A lot of guys going around with the flu and seems to be hitting everybody.

Carlos is out because of weight lifting injury to his finger I believe.

Minor had reinjured his hand the other day in which he already had a cast on his wrist.

Hemmingway has been out for spring for a little while now. Heard ankle.

Threet injured his thigh ... deep thigh bruise from getting hit. Coach Rod exploded when that happened on the defense.

  5. In the photos, it looks like all the lineman are wearing knee braces. Is that normal?
