Rodriguez says Threet should open against Irish

ANN ARBOR - Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez said starting left tackle Mark Ortmann suffered a dislocated right elbow against Miami (Ohio) and will likely miss the Wolverines’ game against rival Notre Dame Saturday.

Rodriguez, speaking today at his weekly press conference, also said Steven Threet would probably open at quarterback against the Irish - a sign the coaching staff is giving Threet every chance to pull away from Nick Sheridan in UM’s ongoing quarterback competition.
