Rodriguez says Threet emerged as Wolverines' primary quarterback

ANN ARBOR – Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez confirmed this morning what was apparent last weekend, that Adrian High graduate Steven Threet seized the Wolverines’ starting quarterback job.

Threet, a redshirt freshman, had his best game of this young season in UM’s 35-17 loss at Notre Dame last Saturday. Though he lost a fumble that turned into the Irish’s final touchdown – one of the Wolverines’ six turnovers – Threet completed 16-of-23 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown.

Threet’s competitor at quarterback, sophomore Nick Sheridan, who started the team’s season opener against Utah, was intercepted twice in limited action against Notre Dame. He was inserted in the fourth quarter when Threet suffered some cramping and was picked off on both of his series at quarterback.
