ANN ARBOR – Another live "no huddle" drill, straight from what is easily Michigan's coldest practice of the season thus far…
* Wide receiver Junior Hemingway (mononucleosis) and running back Carlos Brown (sprained) foot are both out for Saturday's game against Illinois.
Wolverines coach Rich Rodriguez said Hemingway is out for several weeks – "It's just a bad break for him" is how the coach put it – and Brown will be sidelined at least for this week.
* Receiver Greg Mathews is nursing an apparent ankle injury, but was participating fully in practice and will likely be UM's primary punt returner in addition to his duties on offense.
Rodriguez said cornerback Donovan Warren, the Wolverines' other punt returner, has been battling minor injuries as well.
* Don't be surprised to see Perry Dorrestein play left tackle and Mark Ortmann left guard Saturday.
* Still looking for the right combination on kickoff returns, Rodriguez said Martavious Odoms, Avery Horn, James Rogers, and Boubacar Cissoko are candidates to line up deep against the Illini.
* At the top we mentioned how cold it was at practice today. The Weather Channel says it was 54 degrees in Ann Arbor just before 5 p.m.
today – about a half-hour after they kicked the media out. Let's just say there were sunburns to be had at last week's Wednesday practice.
What is a "sunburn"?
