Coaches Corner: Impressed
Three things staff did today that I give major props for.
1) Limited the amount things they did by simplifying the game plan. Michigan did about eight to ten things well instead of twenty Okay.
2) Did not ask Sheridan to do thing he was not capable of like he was asked to do in previous games. Game plan highlighted thing Sheridan does well, break contain, controlled passing game, and use his legs when in trouble.
Sheridan not forcing things on offense and playing in framework of game plan was hugs difference. Nick did not try to do too much as he did in previous games.
3) Took advantage of favorable match ups, and took what defense gave them. Minnesota decided to take away the A and B gaps. They stuffed Shaw, Minor, and McGuffie most of time Michigan ran the inside belly.
That left the flats and tackle read open. Shaw and one of Minor’s long runs were off the tackle read option. In addition, the short screens and such were successful today because of what Minnesota gave us and that Split Ends and Slots blocked much better today. Again not great, but a lot better.
