Mailbag Question: Regarding Barwis and MMA
Hi guys,
I read a comment in one of the blogs calling into question Barwis past MMA history. The person claimed he looked into it and found no evidence that Barwis was ever a MMA fighter. Do you have any credible, objective, info one way or another? Just wondering if there is truth behind the legend.
Thanks.

Thanks for the question. Well all we can go off is what he says along with articles that we have found. Not sure if it is credible, but you have to think that when it is asked repeatedly the person would not lie about something like this that would be easy enough for some people to find out.
Here are four links to help you decide for yourself. Not sure if they will answer anybodies questions, but should satisify some people's thoughts.

I can't look now, because I'm at work, but I would check out sherdog.com - if he doesn't have a fight listed there, he hasn't fought in any even marginally significant MMA promotion. Sherdog's level of reporting is pretty comprehensive, covering the local high-school gymnasium promotions up through the UFC. Of course, you could, I guess, have different definitions of what it means to be an MMA fighter. If he hasn't gotten paid for it and doesn't show up in Sherdog, I'd say he's not - he's just a gym rat. Obviously, that doesn't matter to his current career, but I think there's something significant to actually stepping into the ring/octagon for money that would entitle one to call oneself an MMA fighter. Lots of training just isn't the same.
