Justin Turner

Overview: Justin Turner has the ability to play either safety or cornerback. He also shows the ability to be a superior special team's player. He's a great pick-up from the state of Ohio. His senior year game film/highlights show an outstanding athlete with improved discipline and reads. He did not over commit, or get nosy inside, nearly as much as he used to.

Strengths: He is a very good combination of size, speed, and athletic ability. He plays a physical, hard-hitting game. Technically a sound tackler who fills in like a Linebacker against the run. He uses his hands very well in press coverage.

Needs Work: He jams very well, but at times his feet go dead after contact. Those read steps are extremely important. Sometimes loses sight of the quarterback when jamming, and loses contact with the wide receiver at times. Tends to head downhill a bit too early at times and needs to work on maintaining outside leverage -- remaining the widest player on the field.

All-Star Game: Turner showed very well at the All-American UnderArmour game. He made a few mistakes, but made up for it with his aggressive tackling and hitting.

Projected position: It will be tough until we see exactly what Coach Robinson intends to do. If he plays some version of cover 2, we would expect Turner to play cornerback; if Coach Robinson goes with a 3-deep or man coverage, we would not be surprised to see Turner play free safety.
