Mailbag question: Will Forcier win out at Quarterback?
It's always tough to win with a true freshman at quarterback. Most are speculating that Tate Forcier will win the job. But what about Threet? Is there any hope for him in the offense? Can he develop into a decent spread quarterback? Will Barwis develop his speed and durability? What about his throwing accuracy? Will we see a drastic improvement there?

Thanks for the question and good to see another Michigan fan from Ohio.
We are not writing off Threet at all. He will have two years of spring practices and ten or so games under his belt. That experience is priceless.
We doubt Threet will ever be much of a threat running, but we think he can improve his reads and decision-making to the point that he is enough of a threat to keep defenses honest.
We think the biggest question is whether Coach Rod and staff can rebuild Threet's confidence.
Psyche is funny thing: once you lose it, it can be very difficult to get back. Between poor protection, less than stellar split end play, and slots who were not an ideal fit for the offense, Threet seemed to lose his edge.
If he can get his mojo back, we would be surprised if he is not a factor at quarterback this season, whether as the starter or battling for playing time, because we believe that both Threet and Forcier will see playing time this coming year.
Of course, we will learn more as we attend practices this spring to see for ourselves how things are shaking out.
