Why does it take so much longer for quarterbacks to grasp our system compared to other spread schemes?
It seems like Ohio State and Purdue were able to get their quarterbacks ready to play much more quickly (I realize Siller is no longer at Purdue, but my point is still valid). Is the slow development time related more to the players involved or the scheme that they are trying to learn?

If you start to think of the spread offense as a formation, and not just an offense, it will be easier to understand.
Michigan is employing a quarterback read option offense.
Quarterback has three options each time he runs that single play. The rest of the offense has options as well; there are multiple choices on each play. It is not the offense that takes the time; it is learning to make the proper reads in each package that takes so much time in this quarterback based offense.
