Mailbag question: Recruiting question
Hey,
Recruiting question guys,
Out of the remaining defensive ends recruits who do you like best that Michigan has offered and who would make the biggest impact?
Also if not the same recruits who do you think we have the best chance at to land. We need a speed rusher in this class and somebody who can come in and play right now! Do you guys agree.
Greg N.

Thanks for the question.
WE agree and in our opinion, Michigan needs a speed rusher to take over for Brandon Graham.
We also think Michigan's "needs" ALL defensive positions in recruiting period as we have talked about for well over a year now.
Losing Javarie Johnson to Miami was big loss in our opinion especially when some message board "chatter" had him committed or going to commit to Michigan. He is the type of athlete you can develop into top flight edge rusher.
Our information is that Michigan is in on three defensive ends at this time,
C.J. Olaniyan, Derrick Bryant, and Marcus Rush. These three seem to be the best chance for right now, but there are other targets out there as well, but not as likely in our opinion.
Michigan's best shot is with Rush and Bryant. It is looking more and more like Olaniyan is going to be a Spartan in our opinion.
Remember that recruiting changes quickly, and it is very likely that new targets will appear during / after the football season.

Is it plausible that recruits following various Michigan football venues note deficiencies at a particular position? This is a possible enticement for them to go to Michigan, particularly if they are the caliber of player who could start immendiately. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteThey could, but I would bet they would look at the positions when they visit practices and stuff to see for their own eyes ... also the coaches will always tell a kid he could come in and play early even if they have 5 "5 star" kids in front of him ... if they themselves are an elite kid because they know all the other coaches are doing it as well.
ReplyDeleteBeen my experience that true elite players are not worried about competition. They feel they are good enough to compete with any one. And am sure many recruits take an indepth look at depth charts, but that is just one consideration they use. How they fit into program, position coach, and academics also play big role in kids picking schools.
