Mailbag question: Comparing Tate Forcier to other quarterbacks
Mailbag question: Comparing Tate Forcier to other quarterbacks
I was watching Big Ten ON-DEMAND last night and they had the 1999 Michigan vs. Wisconsin game where Bollinger played for Wisconsin and Brady/Henson split time for U of M.
I was wondering if you could draw any comparisons between Forcier on this year’s team and either Drew Henson or Brooks Bollinger?
Also, do you think a Drew Henson would have success in this offense?
Thanks and love the BLOG.

Thanks for the question.
We do not see much in common physically between D. Henson and T. Forcier.
D. Henson was 6' 5” and T. Forcier is somewhere around 6' 0”. Henson was well over 200 pounds and T. Forcier is struggling to reach 190. Henson had a cannon for an arm. T. Forcier has a good arm, but not nearly as strong as D. Henson.
One area we see in common is both have that confident swagger that you want in a quarterback.
We do like the Brooks Bollinger comparison. Brooks and Tate are similar in size and can be effective against a defense by throwing or running.

Henson had skills but was over hyped and not productive until his junior year. He was, in fact, counterproductive and should not have seen the field as much as he did. He was the product of hype and his individual components did not equal one of an excellent QB with the exception of a few games his junior year, and then it all vanished.
I hope Tate is better than Bollinger or we are in trouble.
I would be very pleased if Forcier is a good enough football player to have a 5 year NFL career, same as Bollinger.
