Mailbag question: Coach English and Coach Rod

Mailbag question: Coach English and Coach Rod

Have enclosed two pictures ... Is there more here than what this pictures states at least to me? Is this where Ron English is upset with how the game went or is it because of what happened when Coach Rod came in and fired English?

Thanks for the question.

Coach English is fiery competitor and we are sure he was unhappy with the results from Saturday’s game.

We are also confident in assuming Coach English would have loved to stay at Michigan as the defensive coordinator under Coach Rod.

Could the untidy non-renewal, dismissal, whatever, resulted in some bad blood between Coach English and Coach Rod? Certainly that is a possibility. But this scenario, “hiring your own people,” occurs routinely in college and pro sports. While not exactly tasteful, honorable, or humanistic, this method of hire and fire is accepted as a hazard of the coaching profession. Yes, certainly coaches remember with bitterness the embarrassment of being tossed aside like an empty can.

Michigan also kept many of the starters in and ended up throwing a few passes in the closing minutes, while up by twenty-eight points. This could have upset Coach English.

Our bottom line is that Michigan kicked Eastern Michigan’s fanny on Saturday and no true competitor like Coach English is going to be very happy about that. Of course, more than likely the history between the two does not help the matter either in our opinion.

So, in summary is it “A” or is it” B”? Likely both.
