Incoming Freshman Boylan Named Minnesota's Miss Basketball

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Courtney Boylan, who will join the University of Michigan women's basketball team as a freshman in 2008-09, was recently selected as Miss Basketball for the state of Minnesota. A 5-8 point guard from Minnetonka, Minn., Boylan averaged 20.8 points as a senior while guiding Chaska High School to its first state tournament appearance in 10 years.
Boylan was a six-year varsity letterwinner for Chaska and finished as the school's all-time leading scorer with 2,148 points. As a senior, Boylan earned her fifth All-Lake Conference award as well as her second all-state nomination. In addition to her 20.8 points per game, Boylan averaged 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting 52 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range. She also garnered academic all-state recognition in her final season.
As a team, Chaska compiled a 22-10 record and advanced to the semifinals of the Minnesota State Championship.
Boylan will join a Wolverine squad that includes 10 returning letterwinners as well as fellow incoming freshmen Jamillya Hardley (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) and Carmen Reynolds (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson HS).
