Time, TV Announced for First Three Football Games

PARK RIDGE, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference and its television partners announced jointly today (Wednesday, July 2) the time and television networks for the first three games of the Rich Rodriguez era at the University of Michigan. The Wolverines start the 2008 season with an NCAA-leading 382 all-time televised football games, including a string of 157 straight contests heading into the opener on Aug. 30 against Utah at Michigan Stadium. The second-ever meeting between the Wolverines and the Utes will kick off at 3:30 p.m. EDT on ABC. Michigan won the inaugural meeting, 10-7, at the Big House on Sept. 21, 2002.
U-M hosts Mid-American Conference foe Miami (Ohio) on Sept. 6, in a nationally-televised game on ESPN or ESPN2 starting at noon EDT. The Wolverines are 4-0 all-time against the RedHawks, with all four previous meetings coming at Michigan Stadium. U-M boasts an impressive 23-0 mark all-time against MAC schools.
The first road test of the 2008 season takes place in South Bend, Ind., on Sept. 13. The Wolverines and Irish will face off in a battle between the two winningest programs in college football history in a 3:30 p.m. EDT game broadcast by NBC. U-M holds a 20-14-1 advantage in the all-time series and has compiled an 8-7-1 record in South Bend.
The remaining games this season will be selected on a six- or 12-day pick by the networks.
