Mailbag Question:
Hey Guys,
What usually happens on a bye week?
Does it depend on how your season is going?
I would think that a lot of fundamental football would be discussed this week with all the turnovers against Notre Dame.
Do they start preparing for Wisconsin during the bye week or do they wait until next week like it is a normal week to prepare.
How do you guys think this bye week worked out? Do you think it came at a good time with how the season has started?
Thanks,
Dan

Thanks for the question.
First thing that usually happens is team tries to get healthy.
Along with getting injured guys back, it gives you time to allow players who have those nagging injuries you play through to get closer to 100%.
Might be a good time to decide on some of the freshmen to decide if they will be red-shirted this year or if the coaches feel the kid still can contribute this year.
Teams generally will give the team an extra day or two off to get caught up in the classroom and give the staff extra time to prep for next opponent.
You use the extra week to work on things you need to improve on. However, you also have time to add a special package to use in the next game.
This is also a good time for the coaches to go see high school games and see high school football recruits that they are looking to add to their team. Have to think this will be a huge weekend for the Michigan coaches to be seeing commits, recruits and high school coaches this week.
