DirecTV: NASCAR Hotpass is back and FREE this year!
Okay, here's the deal: HotPass is back but in a modified form. Only the four driver channels will exist this year. The "super channel" with the 13 audio feeds will not be around.
The driver channels will not be exactly like last year. The HotPass audio (dedicated announcers) are gone -- to me a good thing. So there is just the team audio and network audio, at least that's my understanding.
There will an in-car camera and potentially another "window" on the screen, from time to time, that may show something else like a cutaway to the national broadcast for a few seconds.
The service is free to everyone in essentially the same channel range as last year (795-798). HD and SD available.
Wish this announcement could have been made many days or weeks earlier, but there are a lot of moving pieces to this, including the various networks, NASCAR, etc.
So enjoy NASCAR HotPass version 2009 ... FREE ... compliments of DirecTV.
For the Daytona 500 here are the drivers and SD / HD channels:
Kasey Kahne
Budweiser
DirecTV Channel 795
Jimmie Johnson
Lowe's
DirecTV Channel 796
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Amp Energy
DirecTV Channel 797
Carl Edwards
Aflac
DirecTV Channel 798
