Mailbag question: Quarterback situation next fall
Hey,
What are your thoughts about our QB situation going into next fall? Will D-Rob be able to surpass Tate and be the starter? Is Tate too good for D-Rob to catch? Going forward who will be the
leader of the Michigan offense?
One last question, could you compare the skill set and overall opinion of D-Rob to Tate as QB’s and which one will give UM a better shot at victory?
Thanks again for your blog. You guys are great
Kevin D.

Thanks for the question and the nice comment.
In our opinion much will depend on which way Michigan/Coach Rod takes the offense.
If he stays with the West Virginia model, Denard Robinson is closer to Pat White than Tate Forcier.
If Michigan goes more towards a Missouri or Texas Tech model, then T. Forcier, who is a more polished passer, is a better fit. We will have a better idea after the spring.
We think if given a proper supporting cast, either of the two can lead Michigan to wins. T. Forcier is a more polished passer with better accuracy. D. Robinson has a stronger arm and is better in the pocket in our opinion. T. Forcier has very quick feet and has an excellent football sense. D. Robinson is a dynamic overall athlete with scary speed. Both need work at reading defenses.

D Gardner is also in the mix. I know competition is what brings out the best in athletes, however, I'm not sure if I want another freshman QB to start three years in a row.
well getting Gardner in early has to be a huge relief and will only help this team come the fall whether or not he plays or not.
Adding a great player in the spring will only help the defense be better prepared along with him learning the system.
Also it might give Denard a chance to venture to other positions such as rb, slot, wr, qb, etc..
