Maibag question: A "Nut fan" found the blog ... LOL

First off, in full disclosure I am a Buckeye fan. I am also a Raider fan and a Jake Long fan, a good player is a good player even if he wears the maize and blue. I was wondering how the "outside" or "stretch" blocking that Long has been running translates to the type of zone system that the Broncos and other NFL teams run. I know my Raiders run zone and I am sure it is the same system the Broncos use, our OL coach is Tom Cable.

Thanks
Grant

Thanks for the question. Most NFL teams run an inside zone system, that is similar to what Michigan ran, but has some significant differences. If you check the archives - We did a piece on the differences. Good players are good players as you said. Jake Long will be excellent Offensive linemen in any blocking system. The fact that he has experience in zone system will help make the assimilation easier for “Big Jake”.

For the record, CoachBt is a Lions fan and would do cartwheels across the field if they could get their hands on Jake Long somehow.
