Mailbag question: Regarding the Youngstown Liberty program

Coach and Eroc,

With the verbal commitment from Isaiah Bell from Youngstown, Ohio (Liberty) what do you guys think the chances of getting the other two teammates? Also can you talk a little bit about Fitzgerald Toussaint and Julius Ferrell if you have talked with coaches or seen their film? Where do you think they might be able to play at the college level?

What kind of high school program is Youngstown Liberty and do they have this type of talent every year to which they could become a program like Trotwood-Madison was last year towards Michigan and how Cleveland Glenville is towards Ohio State the last five years? Seems like Michigan needs to hit a Ohio program in the south of the state in Cincinnati (maybe St. Xavier?) and they would have a good base throughout the state so far.

Thanks guys,
Keith

Youngstown Liberty is a solid program with very good athletes. Not quite on par with Glenville or Trotwood-Madison. They do not play anywhere near the schedule/competition. Agree 100% that Michigan should always be major player in Ohio. Even in average years, there is lot of good football players. Plus, more Ohio kids, means the rivalry will become more intense. Really believe that lack of Ohio athletes as been factor in Ohio's recent dominance. Ohio players do not want to go home and face their friends and family having lost the game.

Julius Ferrell:
Strengths:
He is an intense middle linebacker who fills with a vengeance. Reads plays well and plays a physical game. Good to very good tackler who scraps and makes solid pass drops.

Need Work:
Lacks ideal size, and may not be able to gain as much weight as needed. Not super quick, or overly athletic.

Fitzgerald Toussaint:
Strengths:
He is super quick and fast player who can take ball to the house every time he touches it. Very good in space and reads and sets up blocks well. He would make excellent return man.

Needs Work:
He dances too much, needs to not make that extra juke. As defenses get quicker and more athletic this will be problem. Rule in zone blocking is one move and get up field.

Those that missed it here is Isaiah Bell from a previous blog

Isaiah Bell

Strengths:
He has great combination of size and movement skills. He is an excellent tackler and big sticker. He fills inside and the lane very well. Reads plays well and reacts to ball in the air. Potential play multiple positions and be excellent on special teams.

Needs work:
He Needs to be more consistent on his angles. Also tends to drop his head when tackling.
