Michigan Football Tidbits: Regarding the team
Michigan Football Tidbits: Regarding the team
Linebacker crew: Is this the tallest linebacker crew Michigan has ever had? When Evans, Ezeh, and Fitzgerald are on the field together it looks like we are playing five defensive ends. If the season started today, Fitzgerald is a starter.
Webb vs. Moore: Got to give Webb the early lead to be the back-up to Koger. Webb must have been working with Barwis because his body weight looks much more proportioned. He had a good practice on Saturday. Have to wait and see on Webb because, who knows?, maybe he finally wants to play.
Sagesse and Patterson: Our defensive line depth is not a huge concern. Patterson getting extra year of eligibility will help.
Defensive line drills: Coach Tall had only players who were considered defensive tackles. All others went with Coach Robinson.
Impossible to say who has separated themselves in the offensive line competition, with Schilling looking more and more at left guard. Does that mean either Mooseman or Barnum at right guard? Of the entire offensive lineman, Barnum moves around the most. It is almost as if they are trying to find the best combination that includes him.
Look for T-Rob to win the returner job.
Stonum and Hemingway would be wide receivers -- as starters -- as of right now.
Not sure if it means anything, but they sure ran a lot of plays out of the I-formation.
V. Smith: Since we last posted about Smith, it looks like everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Just a note, Smith is not a "sweep" type running back, even with his size. He likes to start out between the tackles. Just a note, a year ago we saw Shaw and McGuffie start as freshman, and of course, both were forced into action because of injury and other issues, but Smith looks more like a natural running back in terms of instincts and vision.
Minor: He is a horse, but his running style leads to injuries. He looked to have a leg bruise. (C. Brown is #2 RB right now).
Both three and four man fronts were being run.
Woolfolk: The #3 cornerback. Rotates at times with Boo-Boo.
Evans: Again, having a good spring. If he does not play this year, he is going to win the Grady Brooks award.

Nice, I love Fitzgerald. I hope he gets the starting job. Kid is going to be a force.
I like the blog. Question you can hopefully answer in another blog post - what do you think of the receiving corp now that Clemons is gone? Was that a big loss, or not so much? How are the slot receivers shaking out?
