Mailbag question: What do the coaches do this time of year
What do the coaches do this time of year and also when they are not allowed to see the players?
Reading your other article the other day made me question a few things such is why is the S&C coaches allowed so much time with the players and not the actual coaches?

Thanks for the question.
Coaches are extremely busy with recruiting and film evaluation.
This time of the year is when coaches evaluate and make contacts with recruits. Coaches are making contacts with high school coaches and visiting schools.
For some reason the NCAA has made the decision that contact with the strength and conditioning coaches is not the same as coaching football.
There are a number of reasons for the distinction:
1) Is they want staffs to give kids time to work on their studies.
2) They want kids to have time to actually be student-athletes and not be treated like professionals or at least look like they are student-athletes.
