Links of Interest for Michigan
Well things continue rolling, in the Wolverine off season, and camp at the Big House also has action happening. One thing that will not be happening is MDEN, the familiar staple to many a wolverine fan has lost the contract to sell at the house. I am for one looking to get back into the Big House; there are some who have it on their sports bucket-list. I am sure most of you are getting tired of the OOC banter and fodder that has been spewed about our conference, well with it being off season expect it to continue on about that and sundry other useless rants.
So here we go onto all the B10’s – well ours is the QB situation the rest have their own. Most of which, yep you guessed it is the schedule, and several of our conference mates are being labeled “Softies”, hell even the BTN who is supposed to be OUR network is perpetuating the filth. Why do other conferences even give two cents about the B10, heck there are writers who think that there are only two teams in the conference – oops one of those is one with the scheduling target on its rear, maybe Joe ought to go or at least schedule harder before scheduling more. While on the subject of old – 4,000 days (Ok it has not been that long but a writer projects we still be getting trounced by tGA in 2014) – I can scarce remember the last time we whipped them but I am looking forward to the game. Speaking of the useless nut, some in the red and tin are getting worried about QB depth, and they could find themselves in our predicament if TP goes down. Well, at least you don’t have to hear from WV………ok I lied you do – they are like speed bumps – bunch of them around, are odd as heck, and really serve no purpose. So, anyhow here is more on the B10.
Here is a look at possible All-B10 players, but is kind of broke when Lord Zoltan is not the leading punter, meanwhile BTN is actually hosting B10 athlete awards. There are beliefs, unfortunately as most people will not want to hear it has Tate will finish 7th in the B10, and that is probably accurate, – look its better then last year. I do not believe like some however, that we will end up 8th in conference standings though, winners? - Well no, but top 5 is not a stretch in my eyes. However currently MI is ranked 4th in a poll on the best state football 1-2 punch, however that also mean Sparty is getting better, though right now we are handling our business as far as the numbers game in in-conference recruiting. Meanwhile Pitt though they snagged a recent recruit from UM, the coach is taking heat for losing all the battles for WPIAL athletes to schools such as the B10 and ND, speaking of PA – UM has a couple signees once again playing in the BIG 33 and it has kicked off. Discussing Big - Two UM players hit the big-time Morgan Trent inked a big deal, and fans are wondering if Henne is ready for the big-show. Meanwhile some of our future players status is still up in the air, and people are wondering if Lewan is the next Jake long. While we are on new guys, let’s dive right into recruiting.
As always let’s bid farewell to some prospects. The quad of OLB Corey Nelson, DT Evan Hailes, RB Spencer Ware, and WR Markeith Ambles have all narrowed their lists and the Wolverines are absent from them. And has already been stated OLB William Gholston and CB Mylan Hicks went Spartina. Now on to the boys in blue and current prospects.
Ricardo has made his way north, and UM has added depth at QB with the addition of SC QB Cornelius Jones UM’s 14th commit, and according to his current coach UM is the right fit for him. Super recruit RB Lache Seastrunk was given 1st team honors in Texas Football Magazine, unfortunately there is suspicion that he is a silent to Auburn after the recruit and violate camp. As for some big-ug possibilities, Xavier’s coach is happy to have Matt James returning to his line, Erick Mack is visiting the game birds, and Ed Christian though a Nole commit his dad has announced it to be a soft version. Now it’s time to get defensive. DE Holmes Onwukaife is ready to pledge UM but has to talk to Coach Rod; DE Gabe King is beginning to narrow his list and continues his recruiting campaign despite, ineligibility investigations; and DE Christian McCain has a current top 5 following a visit and offer from LSU. In the Backer arena we are getting hit and miss: Jordan Hicks has announced 3 officials so far and we are not 1, everyone is trying to shore up their class with Monster Jeff Luc, Maryland backer Javarie Johnson has name a final four which does include UM, and Aramide Olaniyan made VTs top 30 list. In the secondary arena – CB prospect Johnavon Fulton is high on the Tide’s list, Louy commit Jordan Paschal is still looking around (Not in this link but has mentioned blue), and Safety Keenan Allen also has a current top grouping which is exclusive of UM. Sorry for the non-happy recruiting ending, but the beginning should have made you happy. On to the hardwood and other UM sports.
Well basketball ranking are starting to fly and by any measure we should start in the top 25, either 13th or 21st. Even the preseason tourneys are beginning to be announced, and UM will be in the Old Spice Classic. In case you are getting giddy, here this will bring you back - the infamous time-out. Ok, you more stable now? Then let’s proceed with basketball prospects. SG Cameron Ayers comes from a B-Ball family and should be good with a dad who coached the 76ers. SG Spencer Turner is hearing from both us and the community college of Ohio, and speaking of visiting down C Matt Kamieniecki visited University of Dayton, and we have a newer prospect SF DeJaun Marrero who is top in his state. In baseball the B10 will once again play a tourney in late February against the Big East, and in track the men did not do very well but the B10 women showed out.
Well, that’s a wrap – see you again soon. Thanks for the read. Steve.
