Mailbag Question:
Hey Guys,
What is with Carlos Brown? It seems like he is always being injured. Do you think he is going to end up "one of those players" that will never amount to much because his rash of injuries?

Thanks for the question.
Carlos Brown is a talented athlete, good combination of speed and size. Injuries have definitely slowed his development.
There have been other factors,
1) He was playing behind Michigan’s all time leading rusher (Mike Hart). Michigan over last three years has primarily been a one man rushing team, Mike Hart.
2) The hard part has been finding Carlos a home, a position he fits. Michigan tried him at Defensive Back and he looked very good as the nickel. But Carlos wants to be a Running Back.
Michigan has also tried Carlos at Slot Receiver, Running Back, and Quarterback and he has received some playing time at two of three positions. Michigan even tried Carlos as a return man with less than stellar results.
If Carlos ever gets 100% healthy, I believe he can help this program, and I would never call any player who competes at this level as not amounting to much. Remember that Steve Breaston was injured a lot at Michigan, but when he was 100%, he was a weapon on the special teams. The problem with Steve and now Carlos is getting them to 100% and being able to fit them into what you are trying to do before they get hurt again. Not sure Carlos has been 100% since he came to Michigan. We saw him in the spring playing Quarterback, and he was making people miss like crazy. It was the "Carlos Brown Show" at times.
