A dozen bold predictions for the Michigan football team's game at Penn State
By Daily Football Writers
Dan Feldman:
Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark will have his worst game of the season to date. By now, Michigan has to have figured out how to defend the spread better, right? With sophomore Donovan Warren healthy and freshman Boubacar Cissoko showing real promise, the Wolverines should feel confident putting three cornerbacks on the field more often. That change should give the defense a better shot at stopping Penn State's high-powered "Spread HD" attack.
There will be at least six total turnovers. Michigan obviously has some fumbling issues (3.3 per game), but so do the Nittany Lions (2.7 per game). The strong possibility of loose balls makes this game a bit more of a tossup than the rankings suggest.
Penn State will win 31-20. Fumbles are an issue for both teams, but the Nittany Lions have thrown more than an interception fewer per game than the Wolverines. Penn State is more likely to win the turnover battle, so the Nittany Lions are more likely to win the game. Plus, they're really talented and have outscored their opponents by an average of 45-11.
