2010 Michigan Recruiting: Caleb Lavey -- Linebacker

Caleb Lavey from Celina high school in Celina, Texas.

CoachBt/ErocWolverine quick comments: He is a middle linebacker which is a huge need for Michigan. He is from Texas and his father use to be an equipment manager for Michigan back in the late '70's. Natural middle linebacker, would fill a huge need for Michigan. Kid flat out fills it up.

I couldn't say it any better... "Kid flat out fills it up". He seriously does. He's just crushing people out there.

GregGoBlue,

I have to disagree with you about Coach Hopson. In my opinion he is a very good recruiter. Last year he had several bad things happen to him.

First off the team is 3-9. Then he is the recruiter in the LA/MS and east TX, AL areas ... well when your battling teams like LSU and Alabama along with in home states of ole Miss it is pretty hard to get kids to come to Michigan let alone when they are 3-9.

That is why I thought it was a good move to pull him out of those areas and try him in another areas where you can possible get 4-5 kids instead of maybe 1-2 a year.

Throw in the deal with the defense where most knew of the Purdue game that Coach Shafer would no longer be around. Then the deal of waiting till after the coaches convention to name a DC hurt the kids that he had committed and then lost them.

Hard to recruit kids especially on defense when you have no plan and no DC.

Meet Coach Hopson and like him a lot ... very good coach and very good teacher.
