2010 Michigan Recruiting: D'Aver (DJ) Williamson -- Wide Receiver

D'Aver (DJ) Williamson from Warren Harding high school in Warren, Ohio.

CoachBt/ErocWolverine quick comments: He is a very versatile athlete who can help at split end, slot receiver, or even running back on offfense. Can also be big help on special teams. Shows good quickness, burst, and good hands. He does lack the extra gear and needs to add weight and strength.

A couple questions:

1. Do you think he has potential at safety? To me he looks physical, and he has good size and speed. I realize other skills are required but it seems like he has potential. In fact, I don't see the change of direction required of a slot in the video.

2. When you say that he lacks that extra gear you mean that he doesn't have a speed between his initial burst and top speed, correct? He seems to have a good burst and good top speed to me, and of course his track times seem to confirm that.

3. Maybe I'm crazy but he reminds me a little of Stonum (at least in their highlight tapes). Does this make sense to you? I do realize that he isn't the same level of prospect at this point.

These might be dumb questions - I've watched the film once and I know basically nothing about scouting football - but I'd appreciate any insight.

Thanks,

long time reader.

1. No such thing as dumb question. If we had done full write up would of included that Williamson could help on either side of the ball. He has the attitude and physical nature to play defense. Safety is definite possibility, but he would also make heck of nickle and possibly even an OLBer.

2. Exactly

3. A little like Stonum in size, In our opinion Williamson is more physical player, and Stonum faster player.
