Mailbag question: How would you compare this year’s spring practice with the Carr / Moeller era?

How would you compare this year’s spring practice with the Carr / Moeller era? Keep up the great work; this is one of the best blogs out there!

Thanks,

Thanks for the question.

Closer to the Moeller years.

Completely opposite from the Carr years, especially at the end. Coach Carr was a coach that thought the spring was not a good thing and could only get players hurt especially the starters along with he believed that the players should be more student-athletes and not make college football an all the year sport like it has become.

Coach Mo also believed in no huddle, hurry up tempo practices to help get team ready for games. The amount of work and reps done in practices under Coach Mo and Coach Rod was very similar.

Coach Mo also believed in a lot of hitting and full-go scrimmages as part of spring practices. Coach Carr was more about teaching and did things at a much slower pace.

Coach Mo and Coach Rod also stress special teams play during spring practices, not as much under Coach Carr.
