Mailbag question: Higher rated recruits
Higher rated recruits committing later:
I've seen some concern on the internet message boards about the lower than usual rankings of our Michigan recruits for the 2010 class.
Could this just be a product of the time of year? Do higher rated recruits have a tendency to wait out their decisions a bit to explore their options? It seems to me that you would finish up your recruitment class stronger than you start it.

Thanks for the question.
In our opinion this is more a product of how Coach Rod and staff recruit.
They are perfectly happy recruiting athletes who can run and have defense mentality and let positions work themselves out.
Coach Rod and staff hopes that through a combination of coaching, along with strength and conditioning that they can develop these type of athletes into good football players.
Paskorz and Kinard are perfect examples of this, high school athletes who play in two point stance, but with a couple of years of development could easily grow into Defensive Linemen.

Sorry but this star and rating system don't mean much to me, I watch a lot of tape and i could name a lot of high rated players that i wouldn't want. I trust the coaches here to evaluate what Michigan needs are.
