Michigan Blog Preview: Indiana at Michigan Preview from the Big House Blog

An Invitation is hereby extended to our Wolverine blogbrethrens and friends.

The GBMW readership reads with interest the game predictions generated by the contributors. Your site is cordially invited to participate in the fun. Each week, assuming continued interest, GBMW would like to have a guest prediction and analysis from a different Michigan blogsite for the upcoming Saturday game.

This should be beneficial to all Michigan blog pages and we here hope that a secondary benefit from this venture is increased exposure to all U of M blogpages.

So if you are interested and administer/contribute to a Michigan blog, please E-Mail GBMW and let us know your willingness to participate. Several remaining games are still in need of a guest blog predictor/contributor.

Michigan vs IU Preview from the Big House Blog:

I love Bill Martin. He learns from his mistakes (no App. State or Utah this year) and gave us Rich Rodriguez. He also worked the schedule to give Michigan nothing but home games for the 2009 schedule. (He also enjoys sailing!) Ok, the 12 home games maybe an overstatement and Michigan will have to go on the road for back to back games to MSU and Iowa, but will enjoy its 4th straight home game on Saturday against the Indiana Hoosiers.

The Big House has been good to the Wolverines this year and the “home cooking” has helped the young Wolverines get out of the gate quickly with a 3-0 start where they have averaged 38 points per game. Indiana is also 3-0 and thinking bowl game this year as they traveled to Akron last week and came away with a 39-21 win. Both teams have played Western Michigan at home and both teams beat the Broncos.

So what does this tell us about both teams entering Big Ten conference play? Not much really.

Michigan had an impressive win against Notre Dame but IU’s wins have come against the MAC and Eastern Kentucky.

So is this a game between the top two teams in the Big Ten who are both 3-0? Not exactly.

IU hasn’t beaten a top 25 team on the road since 2003 and hasn’t beaten the Wolverines since 1987. Michigan is favored by 18 points.

Key Match Up:
Michigan Offense vs. IU Defense: Michigan has had some injuries on the line with David Molk’s broken foot last week. Moosman will step in at center and watch for accurate (or bad) shotgun snaps. The Indiana defensive line is pretty strong and likes to put a lot of pressure on the opposing QB. Michigan also struggled with their passing game against Eastern Michigan with only 68 total yards.

Keep an eye on:
• The weather: forecast calls for rain. Michigan doesn’t need another 2008 ND game debacle.
• Snaps: Molk is Michigan’s best offensive lineman and always gets the ball to Tate or Denard accurately. How will the Moose do?
• Looking past IU: Michigan goes on the road to rival MSU next week, then a nationally televised night game against Iowa in two weeks.
• Can Michigan protect Tate? (with the make shift offensive line) and get the ball downfield to the wide receivers.

Michigan is the better team and should win easy if they are prepared to play on Saturday. Indiana’s defense is better than we think but the offense isn’t.

Come back later today to see the predictions.
