Mailbag question: Does this Michigan State game worry you guys?

Mailbag question: Does this Michigan State game worry you guys?

Does this Michigan State game worry you guys more now with the records of both teams?

It seems to me this is Michigan State’s "Super Bowl" or whatever you want to call it, meaning this is their season against Michigan.

The problem I see is we have not played on the road yet. We have not played well against teams we have faced so far this year, which includes two MAC teams, a Notre Dame team that might not be as good as people thought and also an Indiana team that is probably one of the bottom teams in the Big Ten (the last 3-5 teams in the Big Ten).

What do you guys think?

Thanks for the question.

We agree with most of your stated points. A victory here would make Michigan State's entire season and would really hurt any momentum that Michigan has built upon so far this year. This game means more to Michigan State than Michigan -- always has and probably always will. It all goes back to the little brother syndrome of always trying to prove you are as good or better than your older brother.

It will be interesting to see how Michigan fares with its first game on the road. People cannot overlook this aspect of the game, because nobody really knows what will happen to this young team in Spartan Stadium. This will be a real test and a pretty hard test, especially if Michigan State gets on top early and gets the fans into the game.

We have been concerned with this game because Michigan State 's style of play will cause some problems for Michigan. Will UM’s defense be able to control the line of scrimmage and get pressure on MSU’s quarterbacks?

In our opinion, if Michigan can get off to a fast start it will be interesting to see how Michigan State holds up. Michigan State had a lot of high expectations before the season and frankly right now they only have this game to make their season. Yes, it is still early, and yes they have only lost one game in the Big Ten, but this is now a make-or-break game for MSU for so many reasons.

Michigan State has claimed to have taken over the state ever since the Spartans beat Michigan last year. The gospel being preached is how MSU is now getting the premium in-state kids, how MSU is recruiting in-state more and better, and how the Michigan State fans are multiplying in droves.

Well as of last week for the Spartan "Super Bowl," MSU still had tickets available for the Michigan game. This begs the question whether or not the East Lansing faithful are really buying 100% into all the hype.

ITs funny to see all the wussies in our fan base have their panties in a bunch over a 1-3 team.

Immediately people start spinning our wins as "not actually wins" while blowing a 1-3 team into a winning machine.

Seriously, they are 1-3 for a reason. Could they win tomorrow, sure can but the odds of a M win are that much more higher.

Unless Tate's arm is in tatters, which i believe its not we are good to go.

And where did this we are a "young team" meme originate. ON O we have exactly one true freshman playing and he has been "ice cool" so far, and on D we have Roh as the only freshman starter, the rest of this team both on O and D has played at ND, tOSU and PSU last year and know what it is to be in a hostile environment. What gives.

And people also seem to be making a mountain out of a molehill with the snapping issues. Moose had his first start and it was a problem, but it was also due to us trying to catch INdiana offsides, but lack of timing between the new center and QBs affected the handling of those snaps. And please don't bring up last year's ND game, it was an outlier and hence useless for analysis.

Anonymous -- well that 1-3 team kicked our butts and lucky we were even in the game.
