Christian Pace: 2010 Michigan Wolverine -- Offensive Line -- Signing Day Recap

Posted at 4:00pm -- 2/13/2010

Christian Pace: 2010 Michigan Wolverine

Height: 6'3
Weight: 262 lbs.
Position: Offensive Line
High School: Avon Lake (Ohio)
Head Coach: Dave Dlugosz
Recruiter: Coach Bruce Tall
Class: 2010 Michigan Wolverine Recruiting Class (Enrolled)

Overview:
Christian is a high school offensive tackle who will need to move inside to either offensive center or offensive guard. He is not as tall as many prefer, but Coach Frey told us at clinic this spring that height is not a major issue for offensive line success.

Strengths:
Christian is a super strong and physical offensive lineman. He is very quick off the ball and has excellent, quick feet. Christian already shows the ability to step and cover and his punch is outstanding! Christian plays the game with that nasty edge we love!

Needs work:
His pass protection will need some work, especially in five and seven step protection. Also, Christian will need to add some weight and keep getting stronger.

Christian reminds GBMW of this former Michigan Wolverine:
Dean Dingman

Red-shirt or play his freshman year:
Red-shirts.

Where do they rank him:
ESPN: 3-Star .. #13 at position.
Rivals: 3-Star .. #7 at position.
Scout: 3-Star .. #11 at position.

Final Thoughts:
GBMW likes Christian’s run blocking: he can dominate the defenders and push them out of the play. He goes hard to the whistle blows and is an aggressive ball player. We see him as a center or possible guard at Michigan. His final destination as a lineman depends on others as well. We assume early on we could see him at center, especially since Molk is out for the spring.

Does it seem like we have a bunch of linemen all about the same? Seems like we have a ton of guards and not many quality tackles.

Lewan and Schofield both are in the 6'6 or 6'7 range so they are more of the OT body types. What Coach Frey talked about was guys who can multiple positions and that athletic ability was what mattered. he stated that height and weight were not a key thing he looked for.
