Kenny Wilkins: 2010 Michigan Wolverine -- Defensive End -- Signing Day Recap

Posted at 4:00pm -- 2/14/2010

Kenny Wilkins: 2010 Michigan Wolverine

Height: 6'3
Weight: 244 lbs
Position: Defensive End / Linebacker
High School: Trinity Hillers (Pennsylvania)
Head Coach: Ed Dalton
Recruiter: Coach Tony Gibson
Class: 2010 Michigan Wolverine Recruiting Class (Signed)

Overview:
Kenny is a very strong linebacker prospect who might play either inside linebacker or on the strong side. Ken also shows an ability(athletic-wise) to help on special teams.

Strengths:
Ken plays very well in traffic and is tough at the point of attack. He takes on lead blockers and moves very well in straight lines and really finishes his tackles and plays a physical game.

Needs work:
Ken needs to improve his coverage skills and improve his ability to play in space. His overall agility and lateral movement are sufficient but need some work.

Ken reminds GBMW of this former Michigan Wolverine:
Roy Manning

Red-shirt or play his freshman year:
Ken will likely red-shirt.

Where do they rank him:
ESPN: 3-Star .. #42 at position.
Rivals: 4-Star .. #15 at position.
Scout: 3-Star .. #67 at position.

Final Thoughts:
Where will the coaches actually play Ken in this defense? He is a physical defensive ball player, one who has good speed coming off the edge. He is a good athlete and could play on either side of the ball, but at Michigan Ken will be used on defense. There seems to be several players in the same area, and with similar circumstances that can play multiple positions, so it will be interesting to see where Ken eventually plays.
