Mailbag question Better Big Ten next year

Hey GBMW,

After an encouraging Big Ten post season, and with a lot of the top teams in the program returning a good number of starters, do you think the conference will be stronger next year? Does this mean a tougher year for Michigan? We play all the teams that won their bowl game plus MSU and I don't see any of those teams being worse than last year with the possible exception of Penn State.

Thanks,
Matt

Thanks for the question.

An interesting question that you pose; we think the Big Ten will be top heavy.

Teams like Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio State have the potential to be very good in 2010. Ohio State fans are already talking national champion and the Buckeyes have plenty of talent back plus a junior level T. Pryor.

The reality about football is that one injury might completely even the field. If Ohio State loses Pryor for any extended time things will get very interesting.

Graduation is hitting Penn State very hard, but we will never underestimate the Lions, especially after looking at the last couple of recruiting classes. They have signed some quality defensive players so the offense might not need to score a lot of points.

The rest of the Big ten should be fairly competitive. We see no reason Michigan should not be able to compete with the majority of the conference.

Our tag line for 2010 holds: No More Excuses, Time to Win.
