Ricky Barnum (O-Line) Michigan Wolverine E-blog time capsule

Ricky Barnum

Michigan Wolverine Offensive line

Class of 2008
Lake Gibson Senior High School
Lakeland, Florida

Scout 3 star
Rivals 4 star

Strengths:
He is very quick and athletic O line prospect. Outstanding hips, and very quick feet, and gets to second level with ease. Strong punches who is excellent at reach blocking. Pulls and leads both runs and screens.

Needs Work:
He has bad habit over striding instead of using short choppy steps. Plays low, but bends at his waist instead of bending his knees. Needs to get stronger and improve his pass pro.

Kevin Koger (TE/SE) Michigan Wolverine E-blog time capsule

Kevin Koger:

Michigan Wolverine Tight End/ Split End

Class of 2008
Toledo Whitmer High School
Toledo, Ohio

Scout 4 star
Rivals 4 star

Strengths:
He is a versatile athlete who can play on either side of the ball. Very good hands and speed for player his size. Actually, saw him chase down punt returner from behind without an angle. Has a great motor and plays with heart, desire, and hustle. Gets to second level when blocking and does he crush some LB’s!

Needs Work:
He definitely can use a good off-season under Coach Barwis's tutelage. Playing basketball and running track have not left enough time for the weight room. Also gets a tad high both when blocking and playing DE.

Mike Cox (RB) Michigan Wolverine E-blog time capsule

Mike Cox

Michigan Wolverine Running Back

Class of 2008
Old Farms High School
Avon, CT

Scout 4 star
Rivals 3 star

Strengths:
Big strong, physical runner who breaks tackles and punishes tacklers. Surprising speed and quickness for big player, and even shows some wiggle. Keeps his shoulders square and takes the fight to the defenders.

Needs Work:
He needs to work on his blocking and receiving skills. Also tends to run a touch upright. He needs to get those pads down, especially when coming out of cuts.

George Morales (Snapper) Michigan Wolverines E-blog time capsule:

George Morales:

Michigan Wolverines snapper

Class of 2008
North Las Vegas High School
Las Vegas, Nevada

Scout 2 star
Rivals 2 star

Strengths:
Excellent, fundamentally strong long snapper. He zips the ball consistency.

Needs Work:
Good thing he long snaps well. He is not a major college prospect as Offensive linemen. He needs to get into better shape.

Martavious Odoms (WR) Michigan Wolverines E-blog time capsule:

Martavious Odoms

Michigan Wolverines Wide Receiver

Class of 2008
Pahokee High School
Pahokee, Florida

Scout 4 star
Rivals 3 star

Strengths:
Smallish receiver who is natural for slot in Coach Rod's version of spread offense. Runs very well and shows excellent quickness and explosiveness. Uses a couple of nice moves, including stutter step, stop and go, and change of speeds to make 1st defender miss. He can stop on a dime and changes direction without losing speed. Very good hands and also shows great concentration, adjusts to ball well in the air, and ability to catch ball in a crowd. He runs the reserve well, both reading and setting up blocks, and is extremely dangerous in space. Despite his small stature, Odoms is fearless over the middle and take a hit.

Needs Work:
He needs to get better at beating jam and to avoid rerouting. Shows willingness to block, but technique needs work. Has tendency to give too much ground and run east and west instead of getting up field. Gets a bit too fancy and tries to turn everything into big play. He will need to get bigger and stronger to help improve some of those areas of concern.

Strengths:
Quick to the football. He has excellent closing speed and in pursuit. He is sound if not overly physical tackler.

Rocko Khoury (O-Line) Michigan Wolverine E-blog time capsule

Rocko Khoury:
Rock

Michigan Wolverines Offensive lineman

Class of 2008
Traverse City West High School
Traverse City, Michigan

Scout 3 star
Rivals 3 star

Strengths:
Technically and fundamentally sound offensive linemen. He shows good hips and leg drive. Plays with his knees bent and pad under pad leverage, but my favorite part of Khoury’s game is how physical he is and man does he finish his blocks!

Needs Work:
His feet are not as quick as I would like. In addition, in protection his feet completely stopped moving at times. He needs to work on his overall quickness and foot speed and he is another one who needs a good tutelage under one Mr. Barwis.
