Several of us went to the Michigan Coaches clinic and were able to watch the practices and drills. The first day was shorts and helmets, second day was full pads, and third day was scrimmage. Of course, the players need to continue to work hard and keep on developing, but this is what we saw so far this spring.
If season started today: (remember there were some people not practicing):
With the base offense set (RB, TE, Slot, and two WR’s):
Minor (RB).
In the Max set (two RB’s, Slot and two WR’s)
They would bring Butler out (TE) and replace with Kevin Grady (RB).
Running Backs:
C. Brown was out, development of Grady and Minor will soften blow of losing the great Hart. Offense looked great with Grady and Minor in max backsets.
Minor:
Strength:
He might be most improved player. He looked in fantastic shape and still bigger and stronger. He was noticeably quicker and faster. He read his blocks well and even took some direct snaps.
Weakness:
His blocking still needs to improve, but really believe Minor will have big year if offensive line solidifies.
Grady:
Strength:
If Minor is not the most improved Grady would be. Looked in fantastic shape and ran with quickness he never showed before. He runs every rep hard and always plays 100%.
Weakness:
Still needs to improve his pass catching skills and improve in space.
Horn:
Strength:
A major positive, he might have best hands of any of backs listed.
Weakness:
He did not look comfortable in Coach Rod’s offense and missed to many cuts and misread blocks. He had four or five times had he made proper cut he would had big play. He looks stiff out there almost like a robot and we did not see the blazing speed we kept hearing about with him coming out of high school.
Fullbacks:
Not used much been when they use them Moundros looked great.
Moundros:
He is a classic I-formation fullback. He is big strong and punishing blocker. Kid buckles knees of linebackers and safeties. His work ethic and attitude are the best.
Helmuth:
He wore green jersey during the clinic. He still looked slow and not as physical as Moundros. Not sure if he has a future In Coach Rod’s offense.

hey guys, what can you tell us about how the spring "game" went?
Obes,
Pretty sloppy play because of the weather conditions. We hope. The scrimmage last for 100 plays first team vs. first team and 2nd team vs. 2nd.
Just put up a 15 minute video of the scrimmage.
