ANN ARBOR - At different times yesterday it was referred to as a "burden," an "edge" and a "chip."
Whatever "it" is, it's resting squarely on the Michigan men's basketball team's shoulders.
"Right now I feel like we have a burden on our shoulders. It's having the mind-set to fight for respect," Wolverines sophomore guard Kelvin Grady said during the team's media day session. "Right now we want respect, we want what we've been working for all summer."
UM is entering its second season under coach John Beilein, who directed the Wolverines to just 10 wins against 22 losses last year. The Wolverines only lost two players - one senior - from that team, yet Beilein cautions UM will again be a young group.
And with that youth will come more of the inconsistencies that plagued the Wolverines in Beilein's first season.
"Year two has tremendous inconsistencies, but they're better than the inconsistencies you have as a first-year coach," Beilein said.
