Mailbag Question: Why no interest in Southeastern kids?

Guys,

This question may not be appropriate for your blog and if that is the case, just dump it.

I do not see any news about any interest in Southeastern kids. Maybe we should be looking at some of their linemen and athletes. They did not have any trouble handling our D-1 prospects at Cass Tech.

Thanks,

Don

Thanks for the question and we will likely answer just about any question as long as we know something about it.

There is difference between being great team and having great players. You can have a bunch of all-stars and if they do not mesh, you will not have a great team.

In addition, you can have a bunch of average players who if they mesh and come together can be a great team.

One more thing is relationships. We do not know what kind of relationship the new staff has with Southeastern, but we think a good one. We do know that Cass-Tech with Coach Wilcher has sent a lot of kids to Michigan and advised them in the past about what kids to look at and which ones to pass on so that can be another factor.

Just like any recruiting, it is based on relationships. That is why several of these coaches are doing well into Florida because they have built up relationships over the years there no matter where they coached. It is the bond of each coach getting to know the high school coaches and building off that along with being seen where the high school kids take notice as well. When a college coach arrives on a high school, there is always a buzz throughout the school of that coach coming to there school.

Cass Tech has great players, Southeastern is a great team.

By the way they are looking at one player from Southeastern right now.
