Mailbag question: Where was Denard Robinson?

Mailbag question: Where was Denard Robinson?

GBMW,

I thought he was supposed to start or that is what I was told on the scout site.

Why doesn't he get a chance especially when Tate doesn't look very good at times?

Thanks for the question.

We do not know what was said over there or what the thought process was, but they (the contributors) were probably following all the rumors that have been spreading about Tate on so many Michigan message boards, perhaps following others leads.

What has us confused is why Denard Robinson is still only being used in such a limited amount of this offense.

He is so limited that he is very easy to defend. Coach Rod said at the beginning of the year that both would use the same playbook and that Tate was not just the passer and Denard was not just the runner. Well, when the defenses see Denard coming into the game, they stack the box and dare Michigan to throw the ball, but rarely he ever does.

Until he is of capable or allowed to use more of the playbook, his effectiveness will be limited.

Any time you have a tendency that a team will run the quarterback over 70% of the time (with Denard as quarterback) when he is in game, this will be very easy to defend.

When Denard comes into the game, it almost reminds us of the old regime when they use to take out Mario and Adrian at the same time and brought the fourth and fifth wide receivers in knowing it was going to be a running play and most likely a run with Hart over Jake Long's side of the offense.

Very predictable and unproductive play calling.
