Mailbag question: Five questions regarding the team

Hello GBMW,

I have several questions.

1. Brandon Moore: I do not hear a lot about him. Since we have a young Koger and Webb. Why not move him to OT? What have you heard? It seems like he has the size.

2. Let’s give credit to the staff for moving S. Brown. This worked out very well. What other moves would you suggest besides the obvious ones of moving Ezeh and/or Williams? How about Ezeh as a fullback, DE?

3. Which young guys who have not taken the field have you heard good things about? Tell me about guys like Jones, Hawthorne, Bell and Vlad. Are these guys going to make an impact next year?

4. Fitzgerald and Demens: I really like Demens on film. Are these guys progressing? Why weren't they playing more often? Is this due to signal calling or are they just not ready physically. I really do not want to see Ezeh at an ILB, no offense toward Obi and his effort.

5. Lastly, should Mouton move inside? I think so; he is not really great in space.

As always, thank you.

John W.

Thanks for the questions.

1) Brandon is very good athlete for his size. The problem is he does not have a defensive temperament. For better or worse he is a tight end in our opinion.

2) Roh to defensive end, Mouton or B. Smith to S. Brown's strong side linebacker, Ezeh to quick or defensive end, are a few adjustments we would not mind seeing

3) Most reports on young guys come from demo squad duty. Names we hear the most often are JT Turner, Vlad, M. Jones, and the three freshmen offensive linemen.

4. They are starting to show some progress. We really liked Demens this spring. Learning the second system in two years was a huge negative. We would have preferred that both play more as well in different circumstances. We did not understand the few times Fitzgerald played, he actually looked decent, or better than the player he replaced, but was pulled quickly for the starter. One time he played one play, made the play and actually stopped the runner behind the line of scrimmage. Maybe he messed up his assignment and did what a linebacker is supposed to do, fill and tackle ... Lol.

5. Mouton played the other inside linebacker the majority of the season. In our opinion he should be given a look at S. Brown's strong side linebacker spot.

There are a lot of candidates for S. Brown's old position. Are there any solid candidates for the other LB & Safety positions?

We liked Fitz and Demens at ILBers and thought Vladie looked good during spring practices.
