Mailbag question: How much did we use the "Trojan package" on offense
Hey Guys,
Mercifully the year is over. I agree with most of what you guys have said about the current coaches. It seems Coach Rod needs to make a decision about his desire to stick with what he knows football-wise as well as his loyalties to his coaches. Obviously he is in a very difficult position.
My question is in regard to the "Trojan package" scheme that the coaches apparently learned in the off-season. You guys seemed to be excited about the prospect of this being incorporated into the offense. With the lack of participation from the tight ends, did we ever end up seeing this used this year?

Thanks for the question.
Yes Michigan used the "Trojan package" multiple times this season.
It was a successful scheme in our opinion and is well grounded in theory and past success.
Losing Carlos Brown, the team’s best receiver out of the backfield, limited the packages Michigan used later in the season.
We are hopeful that we will see the package again this spring with M. Shaw, V. Smith and the rest of the running backs and hopefully more players can be effective in executing this package next football season.
