Mailbag question: Anything positive from the game?

Mailbag question: Anything positive from the game?

Hello,

That was some of the worst football I have ever watched. I thought some of last year’s games were bad, but this team melted against Illinois.

Is there anything positive from the Illinois game?

Thanks for the question.

Sure, Michigan played a very good first half, and was doing very well until the goal line stand.

The result of a touchdown turning into a goal-line stand and then a quick 70-yard burst on a simply quick hitter up the middle completely changed the game.

Carlos Brown played as well as he had in some time.

Kick-off coverage was outstanding in first half and special teams overall did a solid job, except for Junior Hemingway's fumble.

In our opinion, the absolutely ugly, embarrassing way the game ended made every one forget a nicely played first half by Michigan. The old expression is that the sun comes up the next day after an ugly lose is somewhat is somewhat comforting since Sunday is fall back allowing one less hour of darkness before sunset.
